Like many, you may have heard of, or read about the Alexander Technique and its reported benefits to physical and mental health.  You might have wondered what it is and how it can help you.  I have been teaching the Technique in London and the South East for over 20 years and am delighted to be able to now offer it to people living, working or visiting the Hereford / Worcester / Malvern area at Sherford House in Bromyard on the Herefordshire / Worcestershire / Shropshire border.

A Technique for Life and a Technique for Living

None of us comes with an instruction manual; the way that we have learned to think, move and react is often by developing habits that are no longer useful - even harmful - to our health and well-being, and our ability to live successfully into older age.

By learning to stop interfering with your natural functioning, the Alexander Technique can help you to live a more balanced and fulfilling life, as well as having a positive effect on a wide range of stresses and ailments, such as those listed on the right.

On the following pages you will be able to find out more about the Alexander Technique, how it might help you and how you learn, as well as information about me and my approach to teaching, and some of my pupils' experiences.

But Alexander work is so much more than the sum of all these parts and no amount of written commentary can really explain what the the Technique is and how it works.  It has to be experienced. That is why I encourage you to come along for an initial lesson and see for yourself!

The Alexander Technique is a Technique for Life, not quite like any other.  It is a method of physical and mental re-education that teaches us to ‘think in activity’ and ‘use’ ourselves to our best advantage.  It is a highly practical method for self-improvement and self-help.  Anyone can benefit and the Technique has been learned and used by people from all walks of life to deal with a range of problems (see right) and to improve general health, well-being, poise and confidence.
